November 2023 Update

After releasing our first set of bars in December 2021 we continued to experiment with new fermentation protocols with our March 2022 harvest at Ino’s Farm in Liliw, Laguna. We were able to produce cacao beans with deeper chocolate flavor and milder fruitiness. We used these beans in our current offering which includes several new flavors - two 50% dark milk chocolate, the Champorado Bar and the Coffee & Nibs, and a 70% dark chocolate with orange slices.

We’ve also came out with new packaging this year designed by our graphic designer niece, Loren Susvilla Bahena (@looooreeen).

We’re still very “small batch” with very limited production, and friends and family from all over the US have continued to ask for our chocolates, so we’ve decided to make them available thru the online craft marketplace Etsy.

For the 2023 holiday season we’ve added a 70% Dark Chocolate with Pili Nuts and a 70% Dark Ground Chocolate to our product line.

We are proud to announce that we are now also available online at SarapNow , an online marketplace for exciting and unique goodies from AAPI makers.

Why Solihiya?

This book, Filipino Style, has been on our coffee table ever since our children were small. As Filipino-Americans raising a family in the San Francisco Bay Area i

t’s our subtle way of teaching our children the Filipino culture we grew up with. It probably worked because our son Paolo was the one who brought up the idea of using Solihiya for the name of our chocolate.

Solihiya is a sunburst pattern woven from thin strips of rattan and used since the 19th century in traditional Philippine furniture, like the chair in the cover of the book.  It’s a reminder of our rich heritage as Filipino-Americans and serves as an inspiration for weaving interesting chocolate flavors using premium Philippine cacao beans.
